Finally got to see this week's Doctor Who.

Well, that was an enjoyable romp, wasn't it? Not quite up to the standard of the first two episodes, but still fun to watch. At least this one was more child-friendly, and not overly complicated. Don't get me wrong, I adored TIA and DOTM, but I do think they were possibly a little bit too scary and complicated for very young children to appreciate. They would definitely have had me running for cover behind the sofa when I was a little girl! ;)

But this week? A perfect standalone episode, with just a little bit of intrigue (the eye patch lady) to keep us guessing. And poor Rory was yet again the damsel in distress - which I didn't mind (I'll take as much Rory as I can get *hearts him*), but I think it's in danger of becoming boring if it continues to happen on a regular basis. But that aside, I adore the relationship dynamic between the Doctor, Rory and Amy. I'm used to companions coming and going, but I have to admit I'll be genuinely gutted when Rory and Amy's time on the TARDIS is over. :(

And Matt Smith just keeps on getting better and better, doesn't he? *flails* I know I keep saying it, but I honestly didn't think I'd fall for him quite as hard as I have done this season. I loved him in S5, but I *adore* him in S6. *flails some more*

And this post wouldn't be complete if I didn't mention the wonderful Hugh Bonneville, who is perfect in just about everything he's in - and this episode was no exception.

So yes, an enjoyable romp for the kiddies to enjoy. But I have to admit I'm looking forward to getting back into the meat of the season next week, when Neil Gaimon's much anticipated episode finally airs. I can't wait!

And now on to The Game of Thrones...

My love for Tyrion knows no bounds. Every word that comes out of his mouth is just so right. Brutally honest, yes, but I love him for it. I haven't read the books yet, so my only knowledge of the story is what we're given on the show, but I have to say I'm loving it so far.

I find this show difficult to review, because at the moment I'm all *flail* about it, and am finding it difficult to find anything coherent or insightful to say, other than "OMG, I love this show!". I'm also still getting to know who all the different characters are and how they relate to each other in the story, so that also makes it hard to write anything of any substance. All I do know is that I adore Tyrion, love Arya (she's such an interesting character), the bastard son ( see? I still have difficulty remembering all the names. ETA: it's John Snow, isn't it??) and the new character who was introduced last night (Sam, I think his name was), and find the whole premise of the show fascinating.

As to last night's episode, I loved the fact that Dany is now standing up for herself. Her brother is so completely and utterly detestable that I wouldn't be sorry to see him have his head ripped off at some point. And this coming from someone who doesn't really like violence! :P

I also loved the scene in the inn when Catelin (not sure how it's spelt) turned the whole place against Tyrion - even though she's been completely mislead over his guilt in the matter. I know nothing about future plotlines, but I'm fairly certain that nothing too terrible will happen to Tyrion just yet, so I'm hoping he'll be able to straighten things out over the next few episodes.

I was also pleased to see the return of John Snow's wolf, which had been missing in action for a while. I love the atmosphere of the wall. The desolation is palpable and it makes me feel cold just watching it. *shiver*

I can honestly say that there wasn't a thing about this episode that I didn't like. The time flies by while watching it, which is always a good indicator that it's working for me and is keeping me engrossed. And another good thing is that my husband loves it almost as much as me! I won't say he loves it quite as much as I do, because he doesn't get obsessed or fannish over things like I do ( not unless it's football *g*), and I can feel myself becoming more and more fascinated by the show with each passing episode. Not in the same way that I am with other shows (like The Vampire Diaries or True Blood). This feels very different to that. I can't quite put my finger on how it feels different, I just know that it does.

Hmm, I seem to have found more to say about the episode than I thought I would.
