Dead to the World has definitely been my favourite Sookie Stackhouse book so far. I adored the amnesia Eric storyline, am intrigued by Claudine, and loved the introduction of the werepanthers.
Speaking of the werepanthers...
I did not expect that to happen to Jason! o_O
I hope we get to see this storyline play out on the show at some time in the future. How great would that be?
The one thing I've realised is that even though my favourite character on the show is Eric, I love the majority of the main characters. I used to like Tara, but I've felt more like slapping her lately. I'm hoping she'll be more likeable next season. But other than Tara, I enjoy all of the other main characters. I even like Bill most of the time. ;)
I'm also well aware that I have the book characters and show characters mixed up in my head. The Eric in my head is definitely a mixture of the Eric I love from the books and the Eric I love from the show. I think they make a good combination. *g*
The same goes for Sookie, Bill, Sam etc. And the Jason from the show is definitely helping me appreciate the Jason from the books more. I know there are a lot of people out there who can't stand him, but I can't help but have a soft spot for Jason, even if he is a doofus! And after what happened to him in Dead to the World, my love for him has grown even stronger. Werepanther Jason. Yay! Um...I mean, poor Jason. ;)
And Lafayette...well, considering he's only in book 1, my love for Lafayette is all down to how Nelsan Ellis plays him. I'm so glad they decided to keep him around! The show wouldn't be the same without him.
At the moment I am without a doubt shipping Eric/Sookie, both in the show and in the books (especially after Dead to the World). How long that will last remains to be seen, but I'm loving them so far. And Eric steals every scene he's in for me, so I can see my love for him lasting quite a while. :)
So I think it's safe to say that I'm enjoying the heck out of True Blood and the Sookie Stackhouse books so far - and I don't care who knows it! They're not masterpieces by any stretch of the imagination...but they're a lot of fun. And that's what I need right now. :)
No episode this week, so I have to wait until the 13th (probably 14th for me) to see it. I can't wait!
But until then, back to reading Dead as a Doornail...
